Fresh Frozen Blueberries Year Round

We aim to make things simple.

Get Arrowwood Blueberries year round.

In season, you can stop by and pick up as much as you like fresh from the field. Out of season, we package and freeze last year’s harvest so you can enjoy them whenever you want.

Fabulous fruit that was plentiful and easy to pick. I brought my 11-yr old, and two 19-yr olds. Between the 4 of us we picked 15lbs in about 40 min. Lovely!!

Charles and I picked 78 pounds of gorgeous blueberries in less than 2 hours! The farm is beautiful and the service is great! So glad we found Arrowwood!

Blueberries – To Your Health!

Blueberries are great for your health – packed with fiber, antioxidants, and vitamins!  Of course, we would love for you to purchase our blueberries because we are very proud of their quality.  But, you ask, why would I eat frozen blueberries from a local farmer when you can buy fresh from the store?  Glad you asked – here are a few ideas:

  • Blueberries retain their nutrition even though frozen. All those great anti-oxidants, fiber, and vitamins are stored in the frozen berry.
  • Lower food miles and emissions – our blueberries are hand-picked and the only transportation is your trip home from the farm.  Store-purchased blueberries in March are from south of our border and have traveled a long way.
  • Growing Methods – Growing any food comes with an ecological debt to pay. Synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides (none of which we use) all take a toll on the environment. Your local grower is always available to ask about growing methods, but we cannot ask farmers located in other countries.
  • Storage – frozen berries can be stored for months, and blueberries in particular can be readily removed in small quantities for your favourite smoothie, yogurt, or another snack.

Delicious Blueberry Pancakes

In the summer we enjoy fresh blueberries, and in the winter they are perfect with frozen berries! No need to defrost, we find that they heat up just right while cooking.

1 1/3 cup flour
2 tbsp sugar
3 tsp baking powder
3/4 tsp salt
1 1/4 cup milk
1 egg
3 tbsp oil

  • Mix the dry ingredients together and the liquid ingredients together separately
  • Combine the liquid ingredients with the dry ingredients and whisk until smooth
  • Heat a frying pan to medium heat and add a bit of oil
  • Pour the batter into the pan and sprinkle some frozen blueberries on top of the batter
  • Once the batter begins to bubble it is ready to flip, cook until golden brown on both sides

Enjoy!

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you always have fresh blueberries ready-picked during the blueberry season?

As our team continues to pick throughout the season, fresh-picked blueberries are available. We suggest you call ahead if you only want ready-picked to ensure we have enough ready for you. Give us a call at 519-289-0389.

Do you supply containers to pick with?

Yes, we sure do. Come and we’ll take care of you.

How do you measure the berries I pick or buy ready-picked?

All berries are sold by weight in lbs.

Who can I bring to pick with me?

Children are welcome but must be supervised for safety reasons, and stay with their parents. And sorry but no pets are allowed.

Do you have public washrooms available?

We provide clean washrooms that are open to the public.

What kinds of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, cheque, and debit/credit.

How long is the berry season?

Berry season typically starts in the last week of July and runs for 3 to 4 weeks depending on the year. We suggest you call ahead or Follow us on Facebook for daily availability and updates.

Are your berries organic?

In 2016, we started the transition to organic growing practices.  According to the Organic Council of Ontario:

Organic agriculture is a holistic approach to production which promotes and enhances biodiversity, protects long-term soil health and respects ecological balance through the use of environmentally and ecologically sustainable practices.

What hours are you open to pick your own?

In Season, we are open for picking usually:

Monday, Tuesday 8 am – 4 pm
Wednesday – 8 am – 8 pm
Thursday, Friday 8 am – 4 pm
Saturday 8 am – 12 Noon
Sunday – CLOSED

Field conditions and open hours will change depending on weather and fruit ripening stages. Follow us on Facebook for daily availability and updates. Or simply call before you come to confirm we are open.

Do you spray your berries?

We are following regenerative growing practices, which emphasize the growth of strong, healthy plants making great, healthy fruit.  Our fertilizers include applications of natural substances through foliar applications and through our irrigation system.  Strong, healthy plants not only produce great fruit, but they also become more resistant to disease and pests.  We do not spray any herbicides or fungicides.  When necessary, we may spray organic pesticides to deal with infestations of invasive insects (i.e. not native to North America).

Arrowwood Farm is a family-owned and operated business, and we appreciate your support. By purchasing our produce, you are effectively joining the harvest of local fresh food in the region, supporting the employment of local students, boosting the London-Middlesex economy, and promoting ecologically sustainable production methods.
